Problem solving addict excited to see where software development will take me.
Spending my last £2000 on career coaching after years of feeling unfulfilled and unchallenged at work, I was left with the gut-wrenching belief that finding a motivating, enjoyable career was out of reach for me. However, I was certain that I wanted a career that required a strong element of problem-solving in it.
Frustrated with my situation, I decided to enrol on a computer science course (CS50x from Harvard). Working on the second problem set, I remember feeling alive and inspired as I tried to solve an equation for printing a series of hash symbols in C. I hadn’t felt this feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment for a long time and I knew from then on that I had made the right choice.
Since then, I have been learning different aspects of software development, implementing them in projects. Throughout this process, I have been dealing with self-doubt and frustration but this has been outweighed by the reward and joy from persevering through.
Going through this challenging process I am confident in my abilities to learn, adapt and use my skills to help myself and others. I am sure this will make me a strong, positive contributor to any team that I am on.
